Case Toilet Seat Adapter FAQ | Retrofit Seats

Case Toilet Seat Adapter – Frequently Asked Questions

Can’t find a toilet seat for your old or vintage toilet? Our precision‑made adapter lets you mount modern Bemis®, Mayfair®, and other Stay·Tite™ seats on classic Case models 1000, 1100, 3000, and 3200—all of which share the rare 7‑inch bolt spread. If you have a different one‑piece or low‑boy toilet, get in touch; we can usually develop a custom solution at a reasonable cost.

Retrofitting instead of replacing keeps these beautiful mid‑century fixtures out of the landfill and preserves the distinctive “lowboy” silhouette that designers still rave about today. Every adapter is printed to order in Michigan, hand‑finished for a smooth seat‑to‑porcelain transition, and packed with stainless hardware so nothing rusts under the tank rim.

1. Will this adapter fit my Case toilet?

Yes—if your bowl is a Case 1000, 1100, 3000, or 3200. These four models all use a 7‑inch bolt pattern that goes into the front of the tank, and that isn’t compatible with today’s standard seats. The adapter allows you to use readily available seats, and is a cost effective alternative to finding an original case toilet seat.

2. How do I measure the 7‑inch bolt spread?

Measure from the center of the left mounting hole to the center of the right mounting hole on your toilet bowl. If the distance is approximately 7 inches (178 mm), you have the classic Case pattern and our adapter is the perfect fit.

3. What modern seats work with the adapter?

We designed it around Bemis and Mayfair Stay·Tite™ seats. Popular choices include:

  • Bemis 1200SLOWT – elongated, soft‑close, molded‑wood core

  • Bemis 500EC – round plastic, economical

  • Bemis 1500EC – elongated plastic, quick‑clean hinges

4. Why is PETG the best material for this application?

PETG combines the rigidity of PLA with the impact resistance of ABS. It resists household cleaners, stands up to 160 °F shower steam, and flexes slightly under load instead of shattering. We print the adapter strong, so it can support 300 lbs of direct downward force without permanent deformation.

5. Do you offer color options?

We stock neutral gray and white PETG that blend well with most vintage porcelain glazes. Need a custom color? Select “printed in color” at checkout or spray‑paint the adapter with any plastic‑compatible primer and enamel for an exact match. A light sanding with 400‑grit paper helps paint bond.

6. How difficult is installation?

Most DIYers finish in 15 minutes with a Phillips screwdriver and an adjustable wrench:

  1. Remove the old seat and hardware.

  2. Position the adapter plate over the 7‑inch holes (the raised bosses face up).

  3. Fasten the plate with the included stainless M6 bolts and nylon washers—snug, but not gorilla‑tight.

  4. Attach your new seat using the STA‑TITE® fasteners.

Check out our Installation Guide for more info.

7. Is the adapter reversible or permanent?

It’s fully reversible. No porcelain drilling is required, and the adapter can be removed at any time to restore the bowl to its original condition. Landlords love that it leaves no trace, and preservationists appreciate the gentle approach.

8. I have a Briggs, Kohler Champlain, or another oddball model—will this work?

Possibly. Many one‑piece toilets from the 1950s‑1970s share similar geometry. Contact us with photos and bolt‑spread measurements; we’ll confirm compatibility or quote a custom print. In the past year we’ve successfully adapted four Briggs “Beauty‑Gard” tanks and two Kohler “New Kington” bowls with minor tweaks.

12. How do I clean and maintain the adapter?. How do I clean and maintain the adapter?

Wipe down the exposed PETG edges with a mild dish‑soap solution. Avoid abrasive powders that can dull the surface. If mineral deposits build up, a 1:1 vinegar‑water soak loosens them without harming the plastic.
